The analysis of EBSe programs for effective use of EBSe in elementary English classrooms

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze EBS English education broadcasting programs from a multidimensional perspective and to provide elementary school students, parents, and teachers with guidelines in utilizing EBS English broadcasting programs. The analysis of the programs was conducted in terms of the grade, domain, broadcasting time, text availability, year of broadcasting, and program popularity list. It covered all the programs that have been broadcasted from April of 2007 to March of 2011. According to the results of the study, there have been a variety of programs in content and length since the beginning of its broadcasting. Programs for developing speaking accounted for the largest percentage of the EBSe programs. Results also showed that the programs related to science and magic were the most popular among viewers of the EBSe. As of now, teachers and learners are burdened to search for programs that fit their specific needs. It is hoped that the results of this study will promote the use of EBSe and ease this burden. It is also hoped that the results will help people to utilize EBSe broadcasting further in a more effective manner.
