Teaching and Learning English through Movies Using Information Technology and Social Media
Takakubo Masaki
Abstract
This paper's aim is to let teachers know what we can do for English study using current technology. I introduced the example of teaching and learning English by using Information Technology in this paper. There are two types for that. One is the way studying by oneself with using stand alone computer. This is useful but the world is getting more connected. We can share the information to shorten time for study and class preparation. So, the other is the way using collaborative filtering and social listening. English education is able to go up to the next level if we could make the system that people can create, retrieve, update and share their data and comments. It would be an ideal contents aggregation system. People who joined this system (SMMES) can get the usage of movies and comments when necessary. No need to snoop around the database looking for what you need but they come to you. Participant of this system just have to upload own idea/material and connect others study ideas. And social media will spread and recommend data. If we could put people into this, the landscape of English education will truly change. This is our challenge.
