Abstract
The purpose of the current study is to assess the listening comprehension ability of high school students at the lower intermediate level, to check and analyse their problems and finally work out a strategy for high score of English listening comprehension assessment in the real test. In the study the ideas of Error Analysis by Corder, Ellis, and Brown are adopted and condensed. Originally they had proposed five steps for Error Analysis teaching. But the writer condensed their ideas into three steps; a step for collecting materials of Error Analysis teaching, a step for analysing them, and a step for assessment. A group learners at the lower intermediate level were selected to accomplish the study. And they were given trial tests. After each trial test their results were checked and analysed, and step-by-step teaching procedure was used to help them improve their listening comprehension ability. According to the study, most of the learners were satisfied with the writer's step-by-step teaching procedure. However, they need a strategy for achieving much higher score. And many possible strategies were suggested for achieving high score in their real test to come.
