Chapter I General Provision

• Article 1 The committee shall be named the Editorial Board
• Article 2 The Editorial Board shall be under the command of the Society for Teaching English through Media in Article 7,STEM Constitution.

Chapter II Organization

• Article 3 The Editorial Board consists of about 20 members, among whom there shall be a Chair and Editorial Board members.
• Article 4 The Chair of the Editorial Board holds both editorial and publication vice-presidency concurrently and the term is equal to that of the Vice President
• Article 5 The Editorial members who excel in academic research are recommended by the President and appointed by the Executive Board. The Editorial Board members serve terms equal to that of the Executive Board Officers.
• Article 6 The Editorial Board members shall be appointed according to academic, regional, and institutional proportions as follows:
• 1. The Editorial Board members shall be appointed from specialists relevant to the research area.
• 2. Editorial Board members shall be appointed from universities and research institutions in diverse areas
• 3. Editorial Board members shall be appointed from English education specialists in primary and secondary school

Chapter III Functions

• Article 7 The Editorial Board decides on the format, style, frequency of publication, length, editorial regulations, and submission regulations of Journal of English Teaching through Movies and Media.
• Article 8 The Chair of the Editorial Board shall assign reviewers for each submitted manuscript, and the Editorial Board shall make the final decision on the acceptance of the manuscripts submitted.
• Article 9 All decisions, except the acceptance of the manuscripts submitted, should be approved by the Executive Board.

Chapter IV Meetings

• Article 10 The Editorial meeting shall be called regularly according to the publication schedule.
• Article 11 The attention of half of the members is required for a convention/meeting, and the proposal should be approved by the half of the participants voting

Chapter V Evaluation Criteria

• Article 12 (Appropriateness of the Content) Topics and contents should be related to a theory of teaching English and its acquisition and practice in the classroom through using visual media such as movies, TV dramas, and games, various multimedia such as web-based contents, mobile apps, and educational appliances, graphic novels and comics. Any article from adjacent studies such as linguistics or literature should contain the educational and pedagogical implications for language learning and teaching through the media mentioned above.
• Article 13 (Creativity of the Content) Manuscripts will not be considered that have been published or are being considered for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should offer a new, original insight or interpretation and not just a restatement of others’ ideas and views.
• Article 14 (Appropriateness of Organization and Development) Manuscripts should conform to the logical and pertinent organization and development generally accepted in language studies.
• Article 15 (Academic Contribution) Contents of the article should contribute to the development of theories and applications of teaching English.
• Article 16 (Appropriateness of the Format and Style) Manuscripts should conform to the relevant format of the submission regulations suggested by the Society for Teaching English through Media.

Chapter VI Evaluation Procedure

• Article 17 (Receipt) The manuscripts should be received two months before the publication date. The Chair shall send confirmation to the author(s) upon receipt of the manuscripts submitted. Manuscripts which do not conform to the relevant format of the submission regulations suggested by the Society for Teaching English through Media will not be considered for publication.

Time for Publication: 1) issue 1- February 28th, 2) issue 2(International issue) - May 31st, 3) issue 3 - August 31st, 4) issue4(International issue) - November 30th

• Article 18 (Appointment of Reviewers) The Chair of the Editorial Board shall classify the manuscripts received according to the area of specialty and appoint reviewers by consensus after Editorial meetings. Three reviewers shall be selected among the members who excel in academic activities in the relevant field. If necessary, non-members may be appointed as reviewers. In principle, the author(s) who submitted a manuscript should be excluded from being reviewers for that same issue. Also, experts who may affect the reviewing process, such as from the same organization with the author(s), should not be appointed as reviewers. The author(s) requests for non-preferred reviewers will be considered.
• Article 19 (Request for Review) The Chair of the Editorial Board shall write out and send the form of ‘Request for Review’ to reviewers along with the ‘Manuscript Evaluation Form.’ Also, in order to ensure fairness in reviewing and evaluating the manuscript, the author’s name, affiliation, and grant for research should be erased from it before being sent to reviewers.
• Article 20 (Evaluation) Each reviewer should review and evaluate the manuscript according to five criteria of appropriateness, originality, logicality, level of academic contribution, and format. Each item shall be graded on a scale of five points. Each reviewer shall sum up points from five items and give a grade of ‘A (23-25 points),’ ‘B (20-22 points),’ ‘C (15-19 points),’ or ‘D (0-14 points)’. The grounds of evaluation shall be specifically described in the form. If the manuscript needs to be revised, the reviewers shall provide explicit reasons in writing with their advisory comments.
• Article 21 (Report on Evaluation) Each reviewer shall fill out the ‘Manuscript Evaluation Form’ and report the result to the Chair of Editorial Board. Reviewers should be well-informed of “Regulations of the RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS of STEM.” The reviewer judges plagiarism of the assigned manuscript through checking on the degree of similarity with other published articles. Reviewers suggest corrections with clear and detailed directions to the authors. In order to sustain the anonymity of reviewers, a designated number shall be used instead of his/her name, affiliation, or position
• Article 22 (Editorial Board Meeting) Editorial Board meetings shall be convened by the Chair of Editorial Board, and the reviewer reports shall be gone over in Editorial Board meetings. If the manuscript is given a grade of 'B' or above from three reviewers, it is accepted for publication, while if the manuscript is given a grade of 'D' from more than two reviewers, it is rejected for publication. If the results of the review do not apply to these cases, the Editorial Board shall discuss the matter and make the final decision as to the publication of the manuscript.
• Article 23 (Notice of Evaluation Result) The Chair of the Editorial Board sends the result of the evaluation to the corresponding author based on the results of the Editorial Board meeting. Any manuscript returned with ‘Accepted for publication’ or ‘Accepted for publication with revision’ shall be revised according to the suggestions and comments from the three reviewers. The author shall also report whether he/she accepts the suggestion for revision or not. If the author chooses not to accept the request for revision, they shall justify and report the reason with a specific explanation to the Chair of the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board can retract the decision about a manuscript for publication if the author does not revise the manuscript according to the requirements specified, while also failing to provide appropriate reasons for this. A manuscript receiving the notification ‘Re-evaluation after revision’ should be reviewed by another reviewer who did not evaluate it previously and should receive the category of ‘Accepted for publication’ or ‘Accepted for publication with revision’ for publication; if not, the manuscript will be rejected. If the revised paper is submitted again in the next issues after receiving the evaluation of 'Reevaluation after revision', it shall go through the same review procedure. However, if the revised paper is not submitted within 6 months, it shall be finally rated as 'Rejected' and the Editorial Board will notify the fact to the author.
• Article 24 (Objection) If the author has objections to the judgement of “Rejected,” he/she may appeal to the chief editor only once. If the Editorial Board finds the objection to be valid, the chief editor shall appoint another reviewer.
• Article 25 (Retracting and Withdrawal policy)
• 1. Withdrawal: Articles can be withdrawn by the author(s) before the formal publication process. If the author(s) request a withdrawal after publication due to issues in the original article, a signed statement from the author(s) will be required to be submitted to the Editorial Board. After a careful review of the withdrawal request, the Editorial Board will determine the final decision.
• 2. Retraction: If the article is found to have committed research misdemeanors, the article can be retracted according to the decision of the Editorial Board, even if the article received has been accepted for publication or has been published. The case shall then be referred to the Research Ethics Committee.
• Article 26 (Conditions for Free Use Permit)
  The journal applies the 'CC BY-NC (Attribution-Non-Commercial)' license policy as Open Access (hereinafter referred to as“OA”) journal declaration and the Creative Commons License (hereinafter referred to as “CCL”) for the reuse of published articles. Accordingly, all or part of the contents of the published papers and other contributions may be used for research or education. However, in such cases, the relevant works published in the journal should be correctly cited, including DOI (Digital Object Identifier), etc. The OA journal declaration and the CCL will be applied to articles published starting in 2021.
