1. Instructions for authors

The The Journal of English Teaching through Movies and Media is published four times a year, in February, May, August and November. The deadline for submission for each issue is two months ahead of the publication month.

(1) Issue 1: December 31 (for February 28 publication)
(2) Issue 2: March 31 (for May 31 publication) - English only
(3) Issue 3: June 30 (for August 31 publication)
(4) Issue 4: September 30 (for November 30 publication) – English only

How to submit a manuscript

Articles should be submitted using our online submission system as follows:

STEP 1. Registration Log in is required for the first-time user. If you do not have an account, click the "Create an Account" button and make an account
STEP 2. Author’s Checklist, Title, Abstract After clicking "Submit New Manuscript", authors should complete the Author’s Checklist by putting a √ mark without submitting separate documents, then enter their title and abstract into the appropriate boxes.
STEP 3. Authors and Affiliations Enter all author information including a corresponding author and co-authors.
STEP 4: File Upload Log in is required for the first-time user. If you do not have an account, click the "Create an Account" button and make an account
1) Manuscript: Author(s) should upload a manuscript file for review with all identifying author(s) information removed and an additional copy of the manuscript with identifying information on it.
2) Declaration of Ethical Conduct in Research and Copyright Transfer Agreement: Authors should download the file “Declaration of Ethical Conduct in Research and Copyright Transfer Agreement” from the STEM online submission website, complete it with all authors’ signatures, and upload the signed file.
3) Similarity Check Report: The author(s) should perform a similarity/plagiarism test on the manuscript and upload the results to the online paper submission section.

Submission Categories

1. Articles All manuscripts must address the theory and practice of English language teaching and acquisition, using audiovisual media (movies, TV dramas, TV shows, YouTube), audio media (music, audio broadcasts, podcasts), visual media (graphic novels, comics), digital media (social media, websites, computer software, mobile apps, games) and educational technology. All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed. In addition, manuscripts must present original insights in the field that have not been previously published elsewhere.
An article manuscript should be organized in the following sequence: abstract and keywords; main text (introduction, literature review, methods, results & discussions and conclusion); references; appendices.
Manuscripts should not exceed 15 pages in length including references on A4-size paper. APA style is used for text, references, and notes.
2. Reviews Reviews are about books, movies, apps, games, graphic novels or multimedia programs. Book reviews should be rooted in scholarly analysis and critique and movie reviews should include a general review targeted at practitioners in the field of ELT. Reviews should be 800 to 1000 words on A4-size paper. Related inquiries should be sent to stem@stemedia.co.kr

Membership

Create an Account on the journal submission website (journal.stemedia.co.kr).
Please send the fees for annual membership to the following account. If joining for the first time, there is an admission fee of 20,000 KRW.
Then inform us via email (stem@stemedia.co.kr) after paying the membership fee.
Those who have paid all the association fees are able to preserve their membership eligibility and submit manuscripts.

Regular membership: 30,000 KRW (year)
Institutional membership: 300,000 KRW (year)
Permanent membership: 500,000 KRW
