Journal of English Teaching through Movies and Media is an international, peer-reviewed, open access, quarterly publication of the Society of Teaching English Through Media. This academic journal specializes in studies on the use of movies and media for English education.
Movies have a special status within the category of media. We consider a movie to be a teaching material that can be used to create particular speech communities that become an integral part of the learners’ language acquisition and development.
The journal principally aims to provide a forum to present research findings and opinions of researchers who acknowledge the educational value of movies and media. Its objective is to contribute to general knowledge of the use of movies and media in EFL/ESL instruction, and to provide sound theoretical and empirical foundations for English language pedagogy both in the classroom and in asynchronous learning environments.
The journal covers articles about the theory and practice of English language teaching and acquisition, using audiovisual media (movies, TV dramas, TV shows, YouTube), audio media (music, audio broadcasts, podcasts), visual media (graphic novels, comics), digital media (social media, websites, computer software, mobile apps, games) and educational technology.
