A Study of improving listening comprehension through English Pop Songs focused on vocabulary and expression, grammar, and pronunciation

Abstract
This study was designed to examine the effect of English Pop Songs on enhancing middle school students' listening skills, and aimed at finding new ways and means to teach them English more effectively. The first-grade middle school students given listening lessons through English pop songs showed a remarkable improvement on English ability. The average of the post-test was higher than that of the pre-test (65.75 → 80). In addition, the most difficult part shown by the students was pronunciation among Vocabulary and Expression, Grammar, and Pronunciation. The students who participated in this research showed more interest and a greater enthusiasm toward English than before. As a result, The use of English pop songs would be helpful to improve English listening skills and let them have interest in English.
