William Faulkner in his novels manifests the wretched condition of human existence alienated from nature. People in the South lead life of isolation not only from the community but also from their own family members. This bleak image of reality gives the readers or students a chance to check their own reality and establish a world view of their own to make the meaning out of the predicament of alienation in the modern world. Accordingly, this paper will explore the theme of alienation from nature in William Faulkner's novels and trace how it affects people in the South in Faulkner's major novels, which I believe will benefit students to broaden their world view. |
